I'm Mad At You!

Marc woke up at 6:15am this morning. Why is it during the week, he never wakes up early or happy, but on the weekend, he's up with the birds and chipper as can be? Mommy was NOT waking up that early, so I pulled the cartoon card and sat him down to some Scooby Doo so I could get a few more zzzz's.

While I'm changing the channel, I hear Mason saying, "Mom! Mom! Mommy!" from his bed. I walked in their room and picked him up out of his bed. I did not want to leave the two of them together unattended (every time I've done this before, I've woken up to complete disasters in random parts of the house), so I walked Mason back into my room and put him back into bed with me.

It was nearly 9am when Marc came running into the room screaming, "Mom! Mason! It's time to get up!" I think I probably had smoke coming out of my ears because he took off running after I told him I would hang him by the fan blades if he woke up his brother! Well, Mason woke up anyway so we were up.

We had to get up and going because we were taking Cur-dog to the groomer to get a "real" haircut after I butchered his coat trying to get cockleburs/stickers out earlier this week. Mason came running in my bathroom screaming because he had a dirty diaper and he wanted it changed NOW! I got some clothes out for Marc and asked him to put them on while I went to change Mason's pants.

When I came back into the living room where Marc was, I noticed that Marc had not changed his clothes. We have been struggling greatly with following directions lately, so I took a deep breath and asked him why he hadn't put his clothes on yet. He replied that he did not like the shirt I picked out and he wanted a Harley shirt to wear. I explained to him that all of his Harley shirts were dirty because he wore them all last week. He did not like this answer and replied, "I'm mad at you and I'm not your friend anymore! I want my Daddy!"

Ouch. That was painful even if it was from a 4 year old who doesn't really understand what he was saying. No time for hurt feelings because Mason came running back out of his room with nothing other than another dirty diaper! Seriously??? Changed that, dug a dirty Harley shirt out of the hamper, drug bouncing, crazy dog out to the truck, turned truck on for A/C, came back in house, brushed teeth, put on deodorant, ran back outside and drove off to groomer.

Wow! What a start to the morning and it only got better-changed two more dirty diapers in a 2 hour span on the tailgate of the truck, struggled through a haircut for Mason, came home for naps to try and mow yard while kids slept, mower battery dead, thought about jump starting it from the truck (even drove truck to backyard), decided I didn't want to die today, came back inside and picked up kid clutter.

The boys are still sleeping so I think I'll have a glass of white wine and make a toast to the day turning itself around at 5:00pm! Cheers!
